New FAMU president has N.C. ties

In a unanimous vote the Florida A&M University Board of Trustees finally approved the contract of new president Elmira Mangum.

Division on the contract extended the third meeting of negotiations to two-and-a-half hours as several trustees raised questions about perks included in Mangum’s $425,000-a-year contract, and a majority of trustees voted down proposed contract changes, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Magnum, the school’s first ever female president, base salary is $84,000 more than what FAMU paid former president James Ammons.
