Reggie Dixon of Hampton broke 60m MEAC Indoor Championships Record

Records in the 60-meter dash and 800-meter run fell in the second day of the MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex in Landover Friday.

Reggie Dixon of Hampton broke a two-year record in the 60-meter with a time of 6.70 seconds. The old mark had been set at the 2009 championships.

Maryland-Eastern Shore’s Cynthia Anais won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:10.47, a tenth of a minute better than another UMES runner, who set the old mark back in 2007. Merrecia James had the previous mark of 2:10.57.

Norfolk State heads into the final day of the championship with the men’s lead, having totaled 73 points after seven events. Hampton is a distant second with 36 points and Delaware State is third with 32 points.

On the women’s side, Hampton is in first place with 81.5 points. Maryland-Eastern Shore is second with 52 points and MOrgan State follows with 39 points.
