  1. You’re correct Jess! I remember the stabbing at Delstate.

Not only should we keep Bowie State and the victim’s family in prayer, but we need to also pray for the young lady that stabbed Dominique. People is it that bad that we have to take a life to prove what….a point? It is truly praying time.

  2. This is a tragic blow to the BSU community. My heart goes out for the victim’s family because no one every expects anything like this to happen. Also, my sympathy goes out to the perpetrator’s family as well. Both families have lost someone they love and it will take much praying, counseling, and supporting from family, friends, and community to heal these broken families.

  3. Jess…my son was one of the victims at Del State…Thank God he is ok….I still mourn for Shalita who wasnt so lucky…Violence isnt the answer…when will we wake up? TRAGIC!

  4. SHE WAS A VERY BRIGHT STUDENT WHO WAS IN THE SAME PROGRAM WITH MY TWO SONS MARDEZ AND MARQUIS IN UPWARD BOUND COLLEGE BOARD AND NOW SHE GONE BUT WON’T BE FORGOTTEN

  5. I was very sorry to hear parents sent their children off to college, to become a victim and a murderer.

Young people I have a child who is 19 years old he, elected to not go to college. I was so disappointed as I am a highly educated woman. Now I think may be his choice to do things his way was not so bad. We live less than 10 miles from Bowie State University looking back, I am almost certain this is the school he would have chosen to attend.

I know this violence happens everywhere , as a parent I would think on campus and in the dorms it is less likely. You all please learn to respect each others differences and personal space, even in a common area.

    Prayer changes things!
Please pray when things get difficult, pray harder!!!!!!!!!

A life sentence is a life sentence. Time served can never leave your memory!!!! Make choices you can live with.

I pary the families will have peace.

    • I found out during my child’s freshman year at college that Resident Directors aren’t as involved in what goes on as I had thought;. When your child stays on campus, he/she might as well be staying in their own apartment with no supervision.

  6. I told Bowie during the 2009-2010 school year that Resident Directors need to be more involved in what goes on. Colleges give parents the whole ‘helicopter parent’ speech. Expecting us to just drop our children off and they’ll take it from there. While they are not even supervising what’s going on in dorms. Resident Directors just live in the dorm. They couldn’t even tell you if your child was in the dorm all night. I told Bowie to not wait until a tragedy happens before they change their policy and have RD’s to be more aware of what;s going on with the students who live in the dorm that they are supervising. Where was the RD when that fight was going on? Much less, where was the RD when the argument started? I think apartments are safer than dorms.(If the college doesn’t change their policy). Neither provides supervision, but at least with an apartment you get to choose your own roommate; and parents won’t be disillusioned into thinking that you’re receiving some kind of supervision because you’re living on campus.
