Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and Knoxville, Tennessee, Tommy Meade Jr. is a sophomore at Central State University, Ohio’s only public historically black university located in the historic town of Wilberforce, Ohio. At Central State, Tommy is pursuing a degree in the field of Journalism. After graduating from his beloved institution, Tommy hopes to use writing as an outlet while advocating about social reforms as an activist. His God, family, friends, education and community are all important values in his life that he cherishes. During his free time, Tommy takes pleasure in reading, writing, being among friends and staying active.
On campus, Tommy is a member of Tau Rho Beta Fraternity, Inc., Sigma Chapter and the Brotherhood of Strong Success Step Team where he serves as Publicist and Secretary respectfully. Tommy is also a member of the Varsity Tennis Team, the Communications and Multicultural Committee and a mentor as a Writing Tutor for the University College Learning Center.
Tommy aspires to work for the Dayton Daily News and The Final Call as a journalist while traveling to urban areas and Historically Black Colleges and Universities as an advocate for social reform. In life, Tommy lives by Mohandas Gandhi’s famous saying, “Each of us must be the change we want to see in the world.” He is a Staff Writer at HBCU Buzz.
