There were circulating reports of uncertain truth over the weekend about North Carolina Central’s head men’s basketball coach LeVelle Moton being interviewed by Iowa State for the head coaching vacancy left opened after Fred Hoiberg leaves the Cyclones to try his luck pursuing an NBA job with the Chicago Bulls.
It turns out the rumors were true. Moton, though we in the historically black college or university (HBCU) community would hate to see him go, no doubt is deserving of any head coaching position in college basketball, and beyond.
Unfortunately for the North Carolina Central grad who also played ball while a student at the university however, Iowa State played him to the left and chose to pick up coach Steve Prohm instead:

But being the classic man that he is Moton took to Twitter to celebrate his friend Prohm on the new head coaching gig:

So it looks like Moton will be keeping his talents in Durham after all. (Fingers crossed he stays HBCU.)
“In six seasons at NCCU,” reports HBCUSports.com, “Moton has boasted a 114-75 overall record, including a 56-8 MEAC tally.”
Before he takes his Eagles to achieve higher heights for the upcoming season, Moton will be a floor coach for the 2015 USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Championship Team training camp. The event kicks off June 13-19 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
