Cheyney University of Pennsylvania students attending the seminar “Special Topics: Ethical Leadership” this fall will have a unique educational experience on campus. Co-taught by former Congressman Joe Sestak and Cheyney University professor, Dr. Bradley Jay Buchner, the 400-level course combines sociology and political science to explore topics of leadership in the current sociopolitical environment. Held on Wednesdays from 6-8:30 pm, the course is of great relevance in this election year. Spaces are still available for interested persons who would like to register, including visiting students from other institutions and non degree-seeking students can enroll through the continuing education program. Born and raised in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Sestak graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1974. He served 31 years in the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of 3-star Admiral. After retiring from the Navy, Sestak was elected to Congress to represent Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, where he served through 2010. According to the Office of the House Historian, Sestak is the highest-ranking former military officer ever elected to office in either branch, where he served in the Armed Services, and the Education and Labor Committee, and as Vice Chairman of the Small Business Committee.
