Tougaloo College makes history!
Tougaloo College President Beverly Wade Hogan told reporters on Monday that the school has been awarded a $550,000 grant to study trends such as human trafficking, forced labor and child labor.
Reports say the black college “will become the first HBCU to focus on the topic of modern day slavery.”
The Institute for the Study of Modern Day Slavery, which will involve research and direct action projects, is groundbreaking—reports say the black college “will become the first HBCU to focus on the topic of modern day slavery.”
“We will have research by students and faculty, and we will also have community engagement where we will work with existing organizations that are already addressing this issue on many different levels,” said Hogan.
