HBCU Buzz is here to remind you to never fear (again) because the 2022 homecoming season is almost here! HBCUs around the country are preparing for yet another year of great football, events, and reconnections. Last year’s events represented a reemergence after all events were canceled in 2020. However, now that many HBCUs have at least one homecoming under their belt following the COVID-19 pandemic, 2022 is set to be better than ever!
If you’ve never been to a homecoming event, don’t be fooled by only planning for the game. Seasoned members of our community know it’s all about the food, reconnections, tailgates, band performances, concerts— we could keep going on and on. Plus from down south to up north, there are plenty of events going down. Among the most known are the Greatest Homecoming on Earth (#GHOE) at North Carolina A&T State University as well as Fayetteville State University’s rival Number One Homecoming on Earth (#NOHOE). Plus if you’re looking for icing on the cake, then look no further than the classics. On September 4th, the 2022 Black College Football Hall Of Fame Classic will feature Central State University against Winston-Salem State University. On November 26th, Grambling University will play Southern University in the Bayou Classic. There are perhaps dozens happening around the country.
