Dr. Monique Guillory Appointed Provost of Dillard University

The new provost will serve as the university's senior cabinet member and in the administrative office.

Dillard University has appointed Dr. Monique Guillory as the new Provost and chief academic and enrollment officer effective April 2024. Dr. Guillory will serve as a senior cabinet member and in the administrative office, next in line to President Ford.

As the Chief Academic and Enrollment Officer, Dr. Guillory will manage academic offerings and faculty initiatives and lead the implementation of an institutional recruitment and retention strategy. Dr. Guillory will work with the interim provost, Mablene Krueger, to transition into the role.

Dr. Guillory was most recently chief of staff and senior vice president for the University of the District of Columbia. She led the development of institutional strategic plans and provided leadership for UDC’s K-12 partnership with the Anacostia Feeder Pattern.

She also worked at Morehouse School of Medicine as the chief of staff and administrative officer for the Office of the President and Dean. Dr. Guillory provided campus leadership for COVID-19 mitigation during the pandemic, facilitating the return-to-campus for all four institutions that comprise the Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC). 

Dr. Guillory is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans. She earned a Ph.D. in comparative literature and performance studies from New York University.

A native New Orleanian, Dr. Guillory is a seasoned education professional with nearly 30 years of executive leadership experience at HBCUs and MSIs.

Her expertise includes academic program development, accreditation processes, STEM pipelines, and student success. Additionally, she has served on the cabinets of six university presidents.

Dr. Guillory’s appointment will take effect April 1, 2024.
