The 2024 HBCU NFL Combine was held on Feb. 19 at the Oshsner Sports Performance Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is the third year of the event, a collaboration between the NFL and HBCU Legacy Bowl, which aims to highlight players who graduated from HBCU programs and have declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Some notable players included: Florida A&M Rattlesnake quarterback Jeremy Moussa, North Carolina Central Eagles quarterback Davius Richard, North Carolina A&T Aggies wide receiver Taymon Cooke, Texas Southern Tigers Running Back LaDarius Owens, Bethune-Cookman Wildcats cornerback Omar Hill-Robinson, and Winston-Salem State Rams wide receiver R.J. Mobley.

The HBCU Combine‘s third installment featured 47 student-athletes from HBCU football programs. Scouts, executives, and team representatives from most NFL teams evaluated the talent from HBCUs who aspire to make their mark during the selection process for the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit, Michigan. The event will take place on April 25–27, 2024.

The event also featured live coverage on the NFL network with Rhett Lewis, Bucky Brooks, Steve Wyche, and Scott Pioli.

Although the NFL HBCU Combine was designed to shine a light on HBCU players specifically, online critics questioned the true nature of the event, some citing the efforts as doing more harm than good.

Some critics also disapproved of the seemingly “lack of coverage” in regards to the overall results, measurements and major sport outlets live reporting on the event.
