Hampton, Va. – Hampton University students help raise awareness for “Red Nose Day,” a live 2-hour prime-time charity special event for children that will air on NBC Thursday, May 26 at 9 pm.
HU students from the Rho Alpha Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and the Beta Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. were selected by Walgreen’s to represent the Commonwealth of Virginia in a fun video to raise awareness about the campaign, called the “50 States/50 Stories”. In the video recorderd in historic Ogden Hall, the two service organizations performed steps against each other and then challenged other groups to make their own videos to raise awareness for Red Nose Day.
“We are excited to be a part of such a great movement,” said Mollie DuCoste, Hampton University senior, criminal justice major. “We support Walgreen’s efforts to help children nationwide, and we are honored that they chose Hampton University to represent Virginia in the video campaign.”
“Red Nose Day” is a longstanding charity fundraising campaign in the UK that is now in it’s second year in the U.S. that airs on NBC and features many of your favorite celebrities. The funds go to various charities such as United Way, Children’s Health Fund, Boys & Girls Club, Feeding America, and many others.
